Essential Skin Care Routine for Men

When it comes to skin care, men tend to lean towards the item that has an all-in-one aspect. Or that one product that has been sitting on your girlfriend's counter for three years now. Whatever the case may be, it’s evident that men tend to not cater to their skin needs, which is a grave mistake. Not caring for your skin will lead to premature aging and an uneven complexion and skin tone. Adding some quick and easy steps to your skin care routine can have huge benefits for you down the line.

WHY DO MEN NEED SKIN CARE?

Everyone needs skin care. It’s a false belief that only women need to take care of their skin. We all grow old and get wrinkles, so why not try to age in the best way possible? HOW IS MEN’S SKIN DIFFERENT THAN WOMEN’S?

Men’s skin is about 25% thicker than women's skin. It has more collagen, more and larger hair follicles and more sebum production, which is all due to increased testosterone production. This means that a man’s skin is less sensitive and is able to handle more potent ingredients than women. 

Since men's skin has more collagen and elastin, they also show signs of aging much later than women do. However, it is still important for men to take care of their skin by following a simple skin care routine that incorporates all the important steps.

RECOMMENDED ROUTINE

Step 1: Cleanser

Use our sulfate-free, Gentle Foaming Cleanser, which removes dirt and grime from pores. It also works great for oily skin. It is highly recommended to use a mild foaming cleanser before you shave to help reduce surface oil and properly reach the hair follicles. 

Step 2: Shave

If you prefer to grow out your beard for that Wolverine look, that’s great. We love a man with a beard. If you prefer a more clean-shaven look, then you should shave after cleansing your face. You already know how to shave your face better than anyone else, so just make sure your face is a bit damp prior to applying any shaving cream.

Step 3: Toner:

Simply wipe your face down with a toner-soaked cotton pad before you apply your aftershave. Step 4: Serums

Serums are often overlooked by men because they don’t know just how beneficial they are for the skin. After you thoroughly clean your face with the toner, you should apply a serum that caters to your skin care concerns. You can use one or both if you want the added benefit.
